I am getting pretty burned out with commercialized holiday's.
People have forgotten what it's all about.
Get out your glitter, glue, and imagination and let your love for someone inspire a real gift. Something from your heart transends time and actually means something to the recipient.
Of course if you don't give a shit.....Walmart is open 24/7....
This is blog post is probably on my top five list of favorite things this year.
ReplyDeleteIn years past I have always stressed about what to get for people. Worrying about how much to spend on each person so that they "feel" loved by my material gifts, yet not go broke myself. The stress involved in this equation took all of the life out of the holiday season for me. Every year.
This year what started as an excuse to save money for buying a home, has become the ignition to re-ignite my Christmas spirit. I feel so proud of every hand crafted gift that I have prepared this season. I looked with excitement at the table covered with paints, glitters, and things of creativity and actually had fun this season.
What I have found in all of the above is a renewing of self. I have found that creative spark that has been so dimmed by the day to day rituals that we all live. I have found that time where my lovely wife and I can sit across the table and say nothing, yet with actions speak volumes about our love, and our releationship. I have found that I don't care if people like what I have made them, or if they are offended that they are getting a handmade gift. For maybe through Sara and myself's efforts they will become reaquainted with what this holiday season was originally about...
The giving of one's self for the enrichment of others.
Thank you for enrichening mine Sara.
